I AM SO HAPPY YOU ARE HERE

I am an artist drawn to the beauty of imperfection, using paint as a way to explore connection, presence, and personal transformation. At the heart of my work is a belief in the quiet, enduring power of love — the love we give, the love we receive, and the love we learn to extend to ourselves.

I’m a Kansas City native and a graduate of the University of Kansas, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. After more than 20 years working as a designer and art director — creating award-winning work for clients — there was always a quiet voice inside me asking for something more personal, more expressive.

Eventually, I reached a season of life where I realized I could no longer ignore that voice. I needed to slow down, reconnect with myself, and make space for a different kind of creativity. Painting became the path back to myself, evolving into a daily practice that continues to shape how I move through the world.

My work is an exploration of the soul and a search for the bold, shining, fearless girl I believe we all carry within us. Painting is my way of practicing presence and self-trust — an ongoing act of self-love — and the example I hope to set for my children: that it is never too late to listen inward, choose courage, and begin again.

I feel deeply grateful to live a creative life alongside being an involved mother and a loving partner — daily reminders that love is both the foundation of my life and the undercurrent of my work.

My hope is that each painting creates a moment of pause — a sense of calm, connection, and recognition — for anyone who lives with it.

“Every brushstroke and every color I choose is a testament to the idea that love is not just an act of appreciation, but a celebration of our unique qualities and imperfections. Through my art, I explore the diverse aspects of who we are, embracing our strengths and vulnerabilities alike. By practicing this exploration, I aim to highlight the beauty in our differences and emphasize the importance of self-acceptance.”

  • A Legacy of Love

"When my sister and I began renovations on our grandparents’ farmhouse, we aimed to create a gathering place for extended family and friends. We knew we needed something to represent multiple generations of our family and ensure a feeling of belonging for all who visited. After sharing our family story with Leslie, she created a painting that is truly the centerpiece of the home. As the story is shared of who and what the painting represents, there are often emotional tears of love for family members past and present. Thank you, Leslie, for creating a masterpiece that ensures our house remains a true home.”

  • Friendship Transformed into Art

"I was searching for a special gift for a friend and after seeing Leslie’s work from her “Becoming” series, I asked if she would commission one for my friend. Leslie and I talked about my friend, our long friendship, and the beauty she exudes through all her generous deeds. Leslie created the most amazing artwork for her home. I hope when she looks at the bold colors woven in with soft lines and delicate movements, it will represent our friendship in all its shapes and forms. I am grateful to Leslie for her inspired work.”

  • For 25 days, I returned to the studio with one simple commitment: to paint, to notice, and to stay present.

This collection grew from that daily practice — small works created in quiet succession, each holding its own mood and moment. Seen together, they become a gentle visual journal of time, attention, and care.
